Accreditation is basically a voluntary, non governmental process that includes a high end review of a schools ability to provide the highest quality programs. During the review, the accreditation process looks at a variety of areas including the schools mission, faculty qualifications, curriculum, peer reviews and committee evaluations. The purpose of accreditation is to ensure that students are learning the most relevant material to their field of study while preparing them to be leaders in the business world.

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation is the largest and most widely recognized business accreditation globally. In order to earn the AACSB stamp of approval, schools must go through a rigorous process that can take anywhere from 3-5 years. Once a school has earned the AACSB accreditation, it is reviewed every 5 years by a team of peers schools who are also AASCB accredited. The 5 year process ensures that business schools are continuing to provide relevant courses and challenging students to develop the skills required to be successful in business.

In this day and age, more business schools are offering online MBA courses. However, not all online master programs are created equally. Before committing to a specific online MBA program, you should look at a few key indicators to make sure they meet the criteria you want.

AACSB Accreditation

Online MBA programs are a big commitment for business schools to offer, and having experience as well as an established presence in the online MBA marketplace will tell you a lot about the quality of education you will receive. An AACSB online MBA will prepare you to make an immediate impact upon graduation.

Faculty and Teaching methods

During the masters program you will get to know your Professors and other classmates. How much time the professors are able to dedicate to the students in terms of office hours, responsiveness, and even knowledge base is important. The method of how you will be interacting and meeting with your peers and professors should also come into play.

Student Support Services

The best online business school programs provide student services such as financial aid resources and mentoring. When comparing online business school degree programs, be sure to ask each business school about their relationship with companies in your target industry, job fairs, career counseling and networking opportunities they provide. Also be sure to take note of graduation rates and alumni employment data.

Class Experience

Class size, class structure and the dynamics of interaction are all factors that set a good online MBA program above the rest. Make sure that the school you choose is a good cultural fit, and that you will be working and learning with students who have solid grounding in business and are prepared to enrich your online MBA experience.

Regulations related to international students enrolling in U.S. online education programs are complex. It is the student’s responsibility to understand these regulations before enrolling at Xavier University. Please consult the Information for International Applicants to Online Programs webpage for more information before submitting your application.
